Eirini Beneki MD
Social Impact
I am Eirini Beneki, and I grew up in Karditsa, a beautiful town in the heart of Greece, whose name symbolizes "a small heart" (from kardia, meaning heart). I graduated as a Medical Doctor from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with Honors and began my research journey at the University of Thessaly School of Medicine, where I completed a Master’s program in Research Methodology in Biomedicine, Biostatistics, and Clinical Bioinformatics. I have a profound passion for cardiovascular imaging, as it provides a detailed view of the heart and reveals valuable insights that enhance patient care and outcomes. My curiosity and dedication to research led me to pursue a PhD in structural heart disease at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Alongside my academic pursuits, my enthusiasm for medical education and knowledge dissemination drove me to serve as a Social Media Editor for the European Heart Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging and Imaging Methods and Practice.
Currently, I live in Lausanne, Switzerland, where I work as a fellow specializing in multimodality cardiovascular imaging at the Cardiology Department of CHUV University Hospital. I am also exploring my growing interest in cardiovascular diseases, particularly in the female population.
I joined Greek Women in STEM driven by my desire to contribute to team projects and help the entire team grow and succeed. This commitment led me to take an active role in organizational development activities. My passion for research inspired me to seek an organization that supports impactful projects, particularly those shedding light on issues affecting women. Being part of such collaborative initiatives and working alongside strong, driven women who strive for excellence is incredibly rewarding. Together, we aim to inspire more women to join this community, empowering them to advance their careers and navigate their life paths with confidence.
In my free time, I enjoy photography, hiking, and traveling, always eager to explore new places. You’ll often find me in bookstore cafés picking up new books on psychology and sociology and dedicating time to writing literature.
